Community Partners
logo_part_outdoorsforall-sm The Outdoors for All Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life of children and adults with disabilities through year-round, outdoor recreation. Each year more than 1,800 children and adults with disabilities "exercise their abilities" thanks to the help of more than 600 volunteers. Stevens Pass is proud to be a host of Outdoors for All's on-snow, adaptive programs. In the off-snow season, Outdoors for All provides activities that include: hiking, cycling, canoeing and kayaking, rock climbing, river rafting, water skiing, camping trips and day camps. Get more details on the Outdoors for All web site.
The Service Board The Service Board (tSB) is a non-profit whose mission is to mentor teens to conquer personal and cultural challenges through public service and outdoor adventure. Each year tSB utilizes 14 adult mentors and 30 volunteer snowboard instructors to teach 45 youth to push their growing edge on the mountain, in their community and with themselves. tSB focuses on generating teens with the tools to choose a positive trajectory for themselves and their community. Their unique multi-tiered programming approach weaves together positive adult mentorship, weekly social justice curriculum, curriculm-tied service learning projects, and snowboarding lessons. This approach educates youth on systematic and cultural factors that affect their communities and provides a supportive environment where youth can both shape and lead the change they want to see in the world.
Chill Foundation Logo Established in 1997 by Jake and Donna Carpenter of Burton Snowboards, the Chill Foundation is a non-profit that provides opportunities for at-risk and underserved youth to build self-esteem and life skills through board sports. With the support of Stevens Pass, Chill will serve over 100 youth (ages 10-18) in 2014 with a six-week winter program. The six weekly themes, patience, persistence, responsibility, courage, respect and pride, provide a framework for learning and personal growth. Using the ride up to the mountain to introduce the weekly theme through an activity, instructors reinforce the concepts on-mountain. This structure allows participants to make meaningful connections to the curriculum while experiencing the innate joy of snowboarding.
